Privacy policy.

This policy explains how KAR-VIO handles information when you use the KAR-VIO website and mobile app.

Information we handle

• Account details supplied through Auth0, such as your email address, name and account identifier.
• Vehicle registrations, saved vehicle reports, MOT dates and reminder preferences that you add to My Garage.
• Community activity, including Kudos you give, vehicle leaderboard statistics and car photos you submit.
• A device push token and platform when you choose to enable notifications.
• Your foreground location when you choose a nearby search or GPS Speed. KAR-VIO does not store a history of your location or speed.
• Limited technical and security logs used to operate, diagnose and protect the service.

How we use information

We use this information to authenticate you, sync My Garage, provide vehicle and nearby-service results, operate Community leaderboards, automatically check whether submitted photos clearly show a car and exclude prominent people, send reminders you request, secure the service and fix operational problems. Images that fail the automatic check are not published. Community leaderboards can display a vehicle registration and official vehicle statistics, but we do not display which account searched, linked, photographed or gave Kudos to that vehicle. We do not sell personal information or use it for third-party advertising.

Services that help provide KAR-VIO

Authentication is provided by Auth0. Mobile delivery and push notification infrastructure is provided by Expo. Hosting and database infrastructure is provided by Cloudflare. Vehicle, MOT, test-centre and charging information may come from UK government services, DVSA data and Open Charge Map. These providers process information under their own policies where applicable.

Location

Location access is requested only while you use a feature that needs it. Nearby-search coordinates may be sent to KAR-VIO and the relevant data provider to return results. GPS Speed is calculated on your device. You can refuse location permission and use postcode search where that option is available.

Retention and deletion

Saved account data is kept while your account remains active. You can permanently delete your account, saved cars, reminders and registered notification devices from Account in the app. Limited security or operational records may remain where reasonably required by law, fraud prevention or infrastructure backup cycles.

Your choices

You can change location and notification permissions in iOS Settings, remove individual cars from My Garage, or delete your account in the app. For privacy questions or access and correction requests, email support@kar-vio.com.
